A New Era?
Well, of course it is. Election landslide. Howard going down in his own electorate. Central Coast roundup.
GetUp hit this election hard, and GUCC was no different, covering a dozen booths in 3 electorates. Will Howard lose Bennelong. Looks like it, but even if not, McKew and her husband have run an extraordinary campaign, and Howards Way is swept aside, hopefully forever - the most dangerous and undemocratic govt in Australia for a long time.(overriding the proper use of the Senate; threatening the Federal system by filling their own election fund instead of properly funding the States).
On the Coast, it could be a clean sweep for Labor, even in my blue ribbon Liberal seat of Robertson, due to the solidarity of Greens preferences. Hopefully this will mean Labor will begin to move on national and local climate issues, such as the pulp mill, uranium mining, Newcastle coal loader and new Hunter coal mines (and begin to make mining in general more responsible for the environmental destruction it has long wreaked at huge profit for the few), population growth, local and national transport commissions, the urgent large scale funding of renewable energy and penalising of carbon-based fuels producers in line with their environmental costs. Overturn the IR laws and establish and re-establish proper systems and rights for Aboriginals. So much to do. For today, let's just take a breather and give a cheer.

too busy for this
Haven't even had time to sort out this site since September.
What with assessments and editing getting full on and Zoe recently getting a website for me to find time to sort out and uni deadlines sending me into depression... it'll happen, eh.
